■연사: Yani loannou 교수님 (University of Calgary)

Yani Ioannou is a Schulich Research Chair and Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical and Software Engineering at the University of Calgary in Alberta, Canada. Yani completed his PhD at the University of Cambridge in 2018 supported by a Microsoft Research PhD Scholarship. Yani leads the Calgary Machine Learning Lab, with research interests including improving sparse neural network training, efficient training/inference, and trustworthy AI in compressed models.

■ABSTRACT

I will discuss our recent ICLR 2026 publication "REAP the Experts: Why Pruning Prevails for One-Shot MoE compression”, and the surprising impact the work had in the AI hobbyist community, leading to what I believe is the central question the ML research community needs to address to make AI models more accessible, introducing some of our other recent research breakthroughs in understanding how to address overparameterization in deep neural networks.
