■주제: Understanding Magnetic Phenomena to Open up a Whole New World of Interaction in Mobile Computing Environments

■요약: Magnetic phenomena are emerging as a powerful enabler of new mobile interactions. In this talk, I present two studies that leverage these magnetic effects in interesting ways. First, I introduce MagSnoop, an acoustic side-channel attack that exposes vulnerabilities in MST-based mobile payments by capturing and analyzing sound emissions induced by magnetic field variations. Next, I present MagPie, a novel magnetic back-of-device interface designed for MagSafe-enabled smartphones, which transforms the device’s rear surface into a reconfigurable and customizable input space. Together, these studies highlight the various roles of magnetic fields as a vector for risk and a foundation for innovation.

■Biography:  Hyosu Kim received a B.S. degree from the Department of Computer Engineering at Sungkyunkwan University in 2010. He received M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the School of Computing at Korean Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) in 2012 and 2018, respectively. He is currently an associate professor at Chung-Ang University, School of Computer Science and Engineering. His research interests include human-computer interaction, mobile and ubiquitous systems, and physical AI and sensing.
